Co-stars react to Rebecca Herbst's firing

The out-ouf-the-blue dismissal of 13-year General Hospital veteran Rebecca Herbst seems to have caught everyone by surprise. Now, Herbst's co-stars are weighing in on her firing.

The out-of-the-blue dismissal of General Hospital star Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber) has set the Internet ablaze. In the hours following the confirmation of the actress' ouster from her home of nearly 14 years, it wasn't just fans who took to message boards and social media to express their unhappiness with the decision. Several of Herbst's co-stars have also voiced their shock and heartbreak.

"[I am] really shocked...will miss her gorgeous smile!" Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) posted on Twitter. "Becky will be snapped up by another show in no time. No doubt about it."

"[M]ost of you have heard the horrible and awful news about Becky," Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) wrote on his Twitter page. "My heart breaks as I even have to tweet this. One of the best and most beautiful actresses that has been on this show. Beside that, she's a friend and that hurts. Some show will be lucky to have her. May God bless them through this transition. Much luv to [husband] Michael and Becky."

"So sad and devastated by the loss of Becky, an amazingly talented woman, from the GH cast," added Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall), also via Twitter. "It makes me worry about the future of Daytime."

"In my many years on General Hospital dozens of actors [have] come and gone in one fashion or another," Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine) said in a statement on his Facebook page. "I have never been as shocked as I am now over Becky being let go. Elizabeth Webber has been an intricate part of Nikolas Cassadine since nearly the inception of the Characters. I will miss that... and my friend."

"I'm heartbroken over the news about Becky. She is absolutely irreplaceable; an incredible actress and a phenomenal person," Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer) remarked on Twitter. "I'm confident the future has brilliant things in store for her! Right now, I'm just speechless and deeply disappointed."

"I'm a loving friend and fan of Becky. She's magnificent," shared Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) on Twitter. "If anyone can deal, she can."

This is very sad news for people who with and love Becky," Laura Wright (Carly Jacks) offered. "She is a beautiful and talented lady."

Herbst joined the cast of General Hospital in August 1997. In 2007, the actress received an Outstanding Supporting Actress nomination at the Daytime Emmys.
